Rises to the skies the Rajagopuram

It
was a great sense of services and dedication which inspired a small
group of women to launch a very unique project about a decade back.
The Trichy Innovative Ladies’ United Needlework Association
(TILUNA) launched a marathon project of the reproduction of the
Rajagopuram of Sri Ranganathaswamy temple with the tallest temple
tower in the world. |

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple,
Srirangam |
The
Srirangam temple complex is composed of 7 concentric walled sections
and 21 gopurams.[2] The gopuram of the temple is called the Rajagopuram
and is 236 feet (72 m) tall, the tallest in Asia. |

Expert
advice was sought from late Mr. Sivaprakasam of Srirangam who was
the chief Sthapathi and overall incharges for the construction of
the Rajagopuram of the temple in 1985 for the design to be printed
on the half cross stitch embroidery canvas.
