TILUNA (Tiruchy
Innovative Ladies United Needlework Association)
was felicitated for creating the longest half cross stitch
embroidery measuring 2437.50 ft. by 666 members along with
Usha Shridhar as President and G.K. Krishnaveni as Secretary.
The 1,170 pieces (86 cm x 63 cm) of the Srirangam Rajagopuram
covered an area of 6, 906, 25 sq. ft. Each piece had 82, 875
stitches using 720 meters of thread. They started creating
this art work from April 4, 1998, and displayed it on October
06, 2007, at SRC College, Trichy. The funds raised from the
sale of the half-cross-stitch pieces will be donated to a
vocational training centre for differently-abled kids with
behavioral problems.
